I grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota and have had a lifetime love for and committment to animals. In both my personal and professional life, I have continually worked to improve the lives of animals. I have been active in opposition to factory farming and am an advocate for humane treatment/animal rights on a variety of fronts. Barbaro has certainly raised awareness of both the promise and perils of horseracing and has inspired me - and many - to work towards much needed reforms.
