As Minnesota's Barbaro Ambassador, I hope to increase awareness and action on a variety of issues related to equine welfare. First and foremost, this includes long overdue reforms in horseracing and an end to horse slaughter in the U.S.
I grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota and have had a lifetime love for and committment to animals. In both my personal and professional life, I have continually worked to improve the lives of animals. I have been active in opposition to factory farming and am an advocate for humane treatment/animal rights on a variety of fronts. Barbaro has certainly raised awareness of both the promise and perils of horseracing and has inspired me - and many - to work towards much needed reforms.
